Heidi was born and bred and still lives in London, England with her two sons, who love to bicker, her husband who, luckily for everyone, has the patient of Job and a hamster that looks suspiciously like a rat.

As much as Heidi adores The Big Smoke she also loves America and every two years she and her best friend leave hubby and kids (and rat) behind and Thelma and Louise it across the States (although they always leave out the driving off a cliff bit). She’s been a film buff since her early teens and a romance junkie almost as long. She indulged her first love by being a film reviewer for the last ten years. Then a few years ago she decided to spice up her life by writing romance.

It was a wild and wonderful ride to her first Harlequin novel and she’s still going strong, becoming a RITA finalist in 2008 with her second novel The Mile High Club - about which she is chuffed to bits.

Cool Places to Visit

Nantnahala National Forest: The Smokies as they should be.

Boulder City: Vegas’s poor relation? I don’t think so.

Monument Valley, Arizona: Forget the Grand Canyon, this is the real deal, add on a Native American tour of the Valley and Navajo frybread at Gouldings Lodge and you’re all set.

St Michael’s, Maryland: Great B&Bs and a mean Karaoke evening at the local bar.

Marfa, Texas: Ghost lights and Jimmy Dean vibes.

Inis Man, Ireland: No traffic and beaches to die for, but watch out for the odd Donnybrook in the local pub.

New York: Breakfast at Pershing Sq, pizza lunch on Staten Island and dinner and a show on Times Sq.

Big Sur, California: Sunset over the Pacific with a cool beer in your hand.

Shoshone, Death Valley: Swim in a hot springs pool and have home-made lemonade in the desert in Tocopa.

County Donegal, Ireland: The best beaches in the world, if you don't mind freezing your butt off.

The Shenandoah River Valley: Silver Dollar Pecan Pancakes for breakfast on the banks of the mighty Shenandoah.
